ABOUT YOUNG LIONS
The International Young Lions competition is organized in France, Cannes. Hungary has nominated a team for the Young Lions Competition for the first time in 2010. Back then Grey/G2 decided to embrace the case of young creative talents by organizing the pre-selection of the nominated team and sponsoring their participation in the competition. The Association of Communications Agencies in Hungary (MAKSZ) became the Hungarian representative of Cannes Lions in 2011, and joined forces with four WPP agencies: Grey/G2, JWT Budapest, Ogilvy Group
and Young & Rubicam Budapest - to organize the event together. The winners of the Hungarian pre-selection will be nominated for the international Young Lions competition.
The Young Lions competition in Cannes, FranceCannes Lions is one of the most reputed advertising / marketing communications award globally. Within that there is a special section called Young Lions for young creatives, marketers
and students. At the Young Lions Competition two creatives will have 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a TV commercial up to 60 seconds in length. The teams will receive a brief from a charity chosen by the Festival. Forty-eight hours later, the teams' work will be judged by the Film Lions jury. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to winners, with the Gold-winning team receiving its prize on stage at the Film Lions, Titanium and Integrated Lions Awards Ceremony on Saturday 25th June 2011, and receiving free registration and accommodation at the following year's
Festival.
Your chance to enterThe Young Lions Competition is a unique opportunity for the young talents in Hungary to get worldwide exposure and to join the world of advertising. Entrants will be selected through a pre-selection process in Hungary, and the winning team, comprising of a copywriter and a graphic designer, will compete with the best and brightest teams from around the globe in Cannes, France.
The competition is open to all creative talents 28 years and under. If you feel that you want to take a shot in the advertising business, if you feel that you would - and more importantly - could make better ads than what you now see in Hungary, here is your chance to prove your talent in a nationwide advertising competition and to win a chance to compete at the most prestigious international festival in the world! In order to qualify, you must register on this Young Lions website to enter with your CV and your proposed ad for a specific task (brief) until 11th May.
The first task (brief) will be available for download on this Young Lions website from Tuesday 26th April 2011.
Please note that you can only submit TV commercial ideas for the competition (therefore no print, media or cyber ideas will be accepted). Entering the competition, you may choose from two categories: either you can compete as graphic designer or as copywriter. When creating your ad for the tasks, please bear in mind that if you enter as graphic designer, we will judge your work by
the creative idea and the artistic design (the text will be secondary), while entering as copywriter, your script and the creative idea shall be judged (and sketches will do just fine as illustration). After submitting your entry, you will get a notification if you are shortlisted till 13th May. Those who got shortlisted will receive the second task on 16th May and will have to deliver the work by 20th May. On 24th May you will have the chance to present your work personally to the jury in English.
The winner team will be announced on 26th May at the Portfolio Night organized at the Umbrella Post Production Studio (Perc str. 2-6., Budapest 1036).
